It’s no secret San Francisco offers some excellent dining options for adults, but what about for kids? Turns out there are some fantastic places to go in the Bay Area to feed budding foodies.
Here are six restaurants to consider when traveling with those ordering off the kiddie menu.
You can’t go wrong with a restaurant dedicated to the art of macaroni and cheese. Similar to other build-your-own fast casual restaurants, MAC’D allows you design your own macaroni and cheese by picking from a selection of sauces, noodles, mix-ins and toppings. There are options for those with food sensitivities, but check the menu before you go as some still might not be suitable for all diets.
Straw’s vibe is sure to take you back to your childhood and simultaneously delight your kids. Straw is a carnival-themed restaurant (some of the seating is literally inside old carnival rides), though it’s not kitschy by any means. The Straw team proves their culinary chops with delicious brunches and adult-approved eats while serving foods kids will enjoy.
If you’re exploring the Mission District, grab a meal at St. Francis Fountain. The eatery, San Fran’s oldest soda fountain, is more than just an ice cream stop. It’s a full-on diner serving patrons since 1918 and a true local gem with an affordably priced menu.
Enjoy some delicious crepes at this kid-friendly eatery. There are three locations around the city, serving tempting bites such as mammoth breakfast plates, savory and sweet crepes, burgers, salads and more. Plus, kids eat free when you purchase an adult entrée on weekdays.
Tacolicious
At Tacolicious, kids enjoy simpler, picky eater-approved options, while parents can indulge in Mexican fare on the advanced side. The vibe is casual and laid-back and the margaritas are mom-approved.
If your kids are constantly begging you to watch television at the dinner table, then Foreign Cinema might be their favorite place to eat in San Francisco. Foreign Cinema plays movies on an outdoor screen during dinner and kids get a fixed-price meal with ice cream, coloring pages and crayons.
