Summer festivals are looming, waiting for your hard-earned cash and vacation days. Your teens and adult children are already vying for tickets and rushing to reserve their spots. With a wide variety of summer festivals kicking off in April, and more added each year, you can easily find one or two to get in on.
Whether you plan on joining the kids or just letting them live out their summers in peace, here are a few you might start hearing about soon:
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
Hosted in the one, the only New Orleans, April 23–May 3, this one offers way more than jazz. Expect headliners (and living legends) The Who, Stevie Nicks, Lizzo and Lionel Richie, to name a few. All ages can get in on this festival, with its epic lineup and already travel-worthy setting.
Hosted in Indio, California, and a great substitute for Coachella if that celebrity-bait event isn’t for you, Stagecoach welcomes country royalty and is an all-ages crowd pleaser. Sure, like all summer festivals, it can get a bit rowdy, but with headliners Thomas Rett, Eric Church and Carrie Underwood, April 24–26, your country-loving family can make an exception.
Over in Memphis, Tennessee, check out headliners Leon Bridges, The Avett Brothers, The Lumineers and Lil Wayne, May 1–4. An odd mix, but we will take it! With soul, indie and rap genres all ready and accounted for, you’ll easily have one or two kids in the crew eager to get to this show.
For a seriously wild time, Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas (no wonder) is no joke. Maybe not your scene, but most likely your 20-somethings, this show is a lineup of EDM and house music May 15–17. For the show’s 10th anniversary, headliners include Alesso, A$AP Rocky, 4B and more.
For the pop kings and queens, this one is for you. With a bit of everything, Bonnaroo welcomes Tool, Miley Cyrus, Flume and more June 11–14 to Great Stage Park in Tennessee. Bring a camper and enjoy some mild comfort, or kick it old-school with the kids and get ready to camp, dance and wish for rain.
