Travel Tips

While planning your #ComeBacktoTravel vacation, consider straying from chain hotels and book one of these or other black-owned hotels in the country.

Salamander Resort & Spa

Sheila Crump Johnson, co-founder, BET, owns Salamander Resort & Spa, a luxury resort located in Middleburg, Virginia. The resort has easy access to Washington, D.C., allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds: exploring the city but having an escape and seclusion from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy luxurious accommodations and amenities.

La Maison Midtown

This urban bed & breakfast located in the Theatre District of Houston, Texas, offers a home-like feel with its completely private guestrooms and suites. Enjoy a delicious breakfast with a Southern flare every morning, and relax in the splendid parlor, living room or dining room. The La Maison Midtown is in the perfect location to explore some of Houston’s best restaurants and entertainment venues.

Six Acres Bed & Breakfast

This bed & breakfast was built in a former safe house part of the Underground Railroad in Cincinnati, Ohio. The house was built in the 1850s by Zebulon Strong, a farmer who supposedly had a fake bottom in his wagon where he would put his crops in the top and hide passengers in the bottom to take them safely back to the house. The owner’s goal is to maintain the integrity of the home by honoring its original use of providing food and shelter to weary travelers.

Maison Dupuy Hotel

The Maison Dupuy Hotel prides itself on its location in New Orleans, just blocks from Bourbon Street, making it the perfect place to come back once the party is over. Located in the quiet, residential part of the French Quarter, it offers spacious and comfortable guestrooms. The newly renovated courtyard features one of the largest  pools in the French Quarter and poolside cabanas.
