A summer favorite for sports enthusiasts is tailgating before the big game. Whether it be baseball, soccer or football, bringing the right items for an awesome day can be hard, and it’s important not to overpack. These are the things you want to make a priority on your tailgate list.

Drinks
Tailgating in a parking lot without any shade before the game can make you dehydrated and quickly. Make sure to pack beer, hard seltzers, canned cocktails and, of course, water to keep yourself cool. The pregame before entering the stadiums can also save you some cash.

Cooler

To keep the drinks cold, don’t forget the cooler. A tailgating must-have, a cooler is multifunctional. Along with keeping drinks cold, it is a place to store foods for the grill that can’t sit in the sun, can be used as a table for your hamburger assembly line and also can easily be turned into additional seating if more friends arrive. Don’t forget the ice!

Sunscreen
Nobody likes to fry in the sun. Keep your exposed skin protected with a good sunscreen. If your car is a hatchback, use the trunk as a makeshift canopy. To cool yourself down, put the sunscreen in the cooler so it feels icy on your hot skin.

Toiletries

As there are usually no indoor bathrooms until you enter a stadium, port-a-potties are located throughout the parking lots. These become unsanitary quickly with arena-sized crowds. Packing hand sanitizer and even your own toilet paper may be a life saver.
