If your family travel includes an autistic family member, consider Breeze Airways for your family’s next flight. The carrier recently initiated a training program for frontline employees on how to deliver a safe and happy travel experience for individuals with autism. The program, developed by Autism Double-Checked, trains flight attendants to identify and alleviate the stresses of air travel.
“It has always been our top priority to provide a simple, accommodating, and reliable travel experience to each of our customers,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO, Breeze Airways. “Combined with everything else we bring to the marketplace, this initiative will help ensure that our autistic Guests receive a stress-free and pleasant air travel experience.”
Alan Day and David M. Tait OBE co-founded Autism Double-Checked. Both are accomplished travel professionals and parents of children with special needs. Day’s son has Autism Spectrum Disorder and when Day considered the impact that had on family vacations, he found his calling to refocus his agency and specialize in support for families with autism. Tait spent his career in aviation, working with Sir Freddie Laker and Sir Richard Branson. He was Virgin Atlantic’s first U.S. employee.
With the expertise of Day and Tait behind ADC, the company brings an understanding of travel logistics and a knowledge of the difficulties faced by families of individuals on the autism spectrum together to help all affected parties make the most of the experience. The ADC and Breeze Airways partnership will help highlight the importance of autism training in the travel/hospitality industry.
