Destinations / Europe

Stockholm is one of Europe’s most welcoming cities for family travel. Filled with parks, ramps for pushing strollers and many restaurants offering high chairs and booster seats, the city is easy to get around. These tips will help you enjoy Stockholm with your children.

Take the T-bana

Stockholm’s underground system is more than a way to get around; it’s like traveling through an art gallery. Kids will love the colorful artwork brightening every station, and you’ll also appreciate how easy it is to use.

Take a Boat Ride

Go for a cruise to get an overview of the city, or invest in a hop-on-hop-off ticket for a kid-pleasing way to travel between attractions.

Go to Skansen Park

You could spend at least a day here with kids, touring the colorful open-air museum to see how people lived here in past centuries. In the same park, you can visit the Children’s Zoo and Skansen Aquarium.

Don’t Miss the Vasa Ship

Sunk in Stockholm Harbor in 1628, the 64-gun war ship Vasa was recovered and restored to its original glory in the 1960s. Tour the magnificent ship, hear its story and join the kids in some of the family activities, all available in English. A bonus: Those under age 18 are admitted free.

Stop for Fika

One Swedish tradition you should observe every day is a Fika stop. This involves coffee or hot cocoa and a small pastry, always enjoyed sitting down. It’s a welcome break in a morning before an afternoon of sightseeing.

Picnic in the Djurgården

The green park on the island of Djurgården is part of Stockholm’s extensive park system and is a good place for a mid-day break and a picnic lunch. There’s plenty of lawn for the kids to run off some steam, and if you’re up for some exercise yourself, you can rent bikes here.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
