Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a great attraction for family travelers any time of year. This summer, the museum offers special programming commemorating important celebrations.

Congress passed the Flag Act, adopting the 13-star flag as the official flag of the United States, June 14, 1777. Visit the museum on this year’s Flag Day to learn more about flags of “all kinds of colours” from the Revolutionary era through crafts, discussions, demonstrations and giveaways.
Experience the museum’s Juneteenth Weekend celebrations June 17–19. Take part in walking tours, a Black Voices gallery tour and a Black Founders: The Forten Family of Philadelphia special exhibit.

Spend Fourth of July Weekend at the museum. July 1–4, the museum hosts crafts, talks, a History Explorers meetup, an interactive art installation and theatrical performances. During Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2–4, the museum hosts a variety of family-friendly activities and crafts to close out summer programming. Children ages 12 and younger receive free admission through the weekend (available for in-person purchase only).
In addition to special summer programming, the museum also features a replica sloop, or privateer ship, in the main exhibit. Stop by Revolution Place, a kid-friendly discovery center, throughout summer. Open daily, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., the hands-on exhibit displays four recreated environments for little ones to explore: a military encampment, tavern, home and an 18th-century meeting house. The Black Founders special exhibition is included in regular admission.
