Downtown Jackson, Wyoming, is now home to a brand-new history museum, allowing visitors and family travelers to the popular city to learn about the area’s natural and cultural past. Jackson Hole History Museum, on East Broadway Avenue, features interactive exhibits, educational programming and special events, as well as flexible space for community gatherings and conversations.

Spanning 13,200 square feet, the museum also includes two historic cabins and an integrated outdoor space. Comprising a collection of 7,200 objects, 19,200 photographs, 8,200 records and 460 oral histories, there’s no shortage of information at the new museum. The Windows on Jackson exhibit features the many faces of Jackson that, much like the objects throughout the museum, create moments of human connection to the history of the city.
In the museum’s rotating exhibition space, visitors can admire works of six contemporary Wind River artists, each exploring relationships between earth, animals, humans and homelands. The museum also features Native American art and exhibits. A mural on the west side of the museum was installed by Native American artist Nanibah Cahcon, who worked in collaboration with the Eastern Shosone Tribe. The mural brings attention to the Shoshone language, Newe Daygwap.

There’s even a rooftop terrace to take in mountain views and downtown.
