Greater Miami and Miami Beach, Florida, invite family travelers to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an array of special programming through Oct. 15. The commemoration coincides with the 100th anniversary of the city of Hialeah, a key Hispanic community in Miami.
“Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the traditions, flavors, music and stories that give Greater Miami and Miami Beach its unmistakable character,” said David Whitaker, president and CEO, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This year, as Hialeah marks 100 years, we honor a century of Hispanic influence and resilience that has shaped our destination’s identity. From the rhythms of our charming neighborhoods to familiar community voices and local traditions, Hispanic heritage is the heartbeat of Greater Miami.”
Cultural events take place throughout the region during Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the people, neighborhoods and businesses defining Miami’s Hispanic community. Events not to be missed include Hispanic Heritage Art Exhibit (through Oct. 9), Salsa Fest Weekend (Oct. 2–5) and ZunZún Children’s Fest (Oct. 12). Hialeah hosts special experiences as part of the centennial celebration, including an interactive digital offering, hialeah100.com, that encourages residents to share stories and photographs.
