Cruising

There is plenty of fun to be had on cruise lines, whichever line you choose to cruise aboard, and one of the ways to have the most fun is poolside. Let’s dive into some of the most fun pools found on board various cruise lines.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line knows how important pools are to their guests’ on-board experiences — so much so, many of their ships feature two. When you’re onboard, take a look up, up, up and you’ll spot the top of the Twister Waterslide. Climb to the top and you will slide hundreds of feet down to the pool waiting below — with a huge smile on your face. And then there is WaterWorks, the cruise line’s onboard waterpark — depending on the ship you board, you may find Speedway Splash, side-by-side racing slides; DrainPipe, which ends with a big swirl at the finish; or PowerDrencher, a huge bucket of water that will cool you even on the hottest day at sea.

Disney Cruise Line

While there are plenty of kid-friendly pools onboard Disney’s cruise ships to cool off even the youngest cruiser, one to check out is AquaLab, found on Disney Magic, Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy and perfect for everyone in the family. Each of the ship’s “labs” have been “created” by Huey, Dewey and Louie, and feature different antics for a different experience on each ship. Disney Magic also features AquaDunk, a waterslide that plunges three stories — after the floor drops out from under you.

Royal Caribbean International

Try out your surfing skills on Royal Caribbean’s FlowRider, a 40-foot-long surf simulator that is a fantastic place to learn to surf through a private lesson. Or, if you would rather, boogie board. If you dare, plunge 10 stories into the abyss on, well, the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea. And then there is the Perfect Storm, the three-story Typhoon and Cyclone translucent slides on which you can race side by side, all while taking in the views at sea. (Slides may vary by cruise ship.)
