Budget

While family travel seems anything but impulsive, there may still be a few destinations left on your list before the kids head back to school. Ease the stress of last-minute planning with hotels and resorts already primed and ready for the late-summer rush.

With Labor Day around the corner, family-friendly stays typically offer group packages and holiday discounts, so you’re not only squeezing in family vacation time under the wire, but on a budget as well.

Atlanta, Ga.

Whether your family is into art, sports, shopping, history or outdoor spaces, Atlanta has something to see or do. Spend the day at the Georgia Aquarium with the kids and little ones, tour the College Football Hall of Fame with the teens and tweens or stroll through SCAD Museum of Art. Take in views of the city from Skyline Park in Ponce City Market, where the kids can play in the park and go down the slide.

Stay at the Residence Inn Atlanta Buckhead in one of the apartment-style suites and enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet. The property is pet friendly.

Another option, The American Hotel in Downtown Atlanta is centrally located, offering easy access to trendy restaurants, bars, shops and tourist attractions. The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel offers balcony views of the city and surrounding Centennial Park District.

Anaheim, Calif.

A bit further West, California offers a plethora of summer-fun locales for the family. Head to Anaheim for the quintessential family trip experience at Disneyland. Labor Day brings the first look at Disneyland’s Halloween celebrations with fun decorations and events — before the crowds arrive closer to fall.

Anaheim Marriott offers family packages for summer travelers. Check out the Discover Disneyland package, including accommodations, self-parking for guests and shuttle services for two adults and two children to the park. Families enjoy a $100 Disney gift card per night.

Just a stone’s throw from the park, Camelot Inn and Suites offers an extended stay promotion for families looking to get more bang for their buck. Guests booking at least five nights receive $20 off each room each night. The no-fuss inn is ideal for families looking for a place to crash after long days exploring the park and surrounding sights.

Montréal, Canada

Head north to the cosmopolitan city of Montréal in Québec, Canada, for a bit of luxury and city fun with European flair. Take a walking tour of the city enjoying the beautiful architecture and shops lining the charming streets. Visit Mount Royal for a hike and view of the city or stick to the classics like Notre-Dame Basilica.

Stay in style in one W Montréal’s Wow Suites. Kids will love the fun bold colors and you’ll enjoy the food and beverage credits with your stay. Use credits with the family at any on-site restaurant, including W Bartizan lounge or Nom Nom restaurant.

In the heart of Old Montréal, L Hotel Montréal is a boutique stay offering endless old-world luxury and design. The older kids will love the swanky lounge, stylish rooms and antique touches throughout. The 4-star hotel offers various specials throughout the year, including breakfast, parking and, sometimes, spa treatments.
