Destinations / North America

Enjoy Southern hospitality on your family trip to Savannah, Georgia. This historic city offers something for every type of family traveler.

Where to Stay

Family travelers have lots of accommodation options in Savannah. JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District offers three distinct lodging options, perfect for multigenerational travelers. Situated in the heart of downtown Savannah, Perry Lane Hotel offers locally inspired, elegant accommodations. There are also many excellent Airbnb options if you prefer the amenities of a home.

What to Eat

Enjoy classic, family-style Southern fare at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. Meals are served at a communal table. Expect to see fried chicken, okra gumbo and biscuits on your plate. For travelers with a sweet tooth, a stop at Leopold’s Ice Cream is a must. Open since 1919, the shop serves up classic (vanilla) and creative (honey almond and cream) flavors. Leopold’s has a small outpost at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport as well.

Things to Do

History buffs have plenty to see and do in Savannah. Embark on a walking tour with operators like The Savannah Walking Tours and Enocha Edenfield Tours to learn more about the city’s history. Savannah Children’s Museum hosts hands-on experiences for young guests. Weather permitting, make the drive to nearby Tybee Island for some beach time. Ellis Square and Forsyth Park both offer play spaces for young travelers.

Heading to Poland? Make for This Family-Friendly Wrocław Hotel

Wrocław, Poland, might not be at the top of family travel lists, but the city is emerging as a popular destination for family summer travel. The destination sets itself aside from the more crowded European cities thanks to its walkable Old Town, colorful architecture, riverfront setting, cultural attractions, parks and family-friendly experiences.

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.
