Multigenerational

AccessibleGO, the leading accessible travel website for people with disabilities to book hotels, flights, cars and cruises, is the perfect family travel tool for those with disabilities. AccessibleGO gives travelers confidence all their needs will be met, offering a platform that allows travelers to access information, share experiences and be inspired to travel the world.

With plenty of accessibility information, an unparalleled booking experience, community sharing experiences and more, travelers with disabilities can gain the confidence to go out and explore the world without having to worry or stress. The site provides a level of assurance, trust and transparency on accessibility, an unprecedented approach in the travel industry.

AccessibleGO cofounder Miriam Eljas Goldman found herself inspired to create such a company through her mother, Emma Eljas. Emma was a wheelchair user who never let obstacles hold her back from living the best life she could. As a resident of Silicon Valley, Emma served as a commissioner on the Valley Transportation Authority Disability Advisory Commission to help make regional transportation more accessible. While traveling with her family, Emma was able to explore the beauty of the Bay Area, but found many venues and sites inaccessible; even calling in advance to these locations didn’t help.

Miriam recalls an incident as a teenager when she and her mom went to a local movie theater, which they were told was completely accessible. When they arrived, there was a series of steps to enter the theater from the lobby. Upset and disheartened, Miriam asked the manager how employees could give such incorrect information. The manager then took a flimsy, cracked plywood ramp out of the closet. Knowing there was no way Emma’s powered wheelchair would make it over the makeshift ramp, the mother and daughter left the theater disappointed and frustrated.

Given her first-hand experience with accessibility issues, Miriam knew a difference needed to be made, and that this difference could be by simply sharing critical information in advance, like other travel websites do. This is when her vision of accessibleGO became a reality. AccessibleGO was created for and continues to serve travelers with disabilities.
