This season, family travelers have the chance to both witness mesmerizing aquatic animals and experience some festive fun, all taking place at South Carolina Aquarium. Visitors can expect visits from Santa, special animal programs, letter-writing sessions to Santa and even a scavenger hunt.
Alongside these activities, kids can enjoy dive shows featuring festive underwater elves within the deepest saltwater tank in North America, the Great Ocean Tank. Decorated galleries and thousands of animals also await as visitors stroll through the aquarium, and guests can even meet animals up close during daily animal encounters.
What about Santa? Jolly St. Nick will appear at the aquarium on weekends throughout December, in which guests can reserve a time to meet him between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. To meet Santa, simply book a general admission ticket or member entry reservation to the aquarium.
The aquarium hosts Feed the RAYndeer, located in The Shallows. Here, kids can give cownose rays a fishy snack, available daily from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. while supplies last.
And, on select nights, Aquarium Aglow opens. This event features larger-than-life installations, photo opps and the chance to see Scuba Claus diving in the Great Ocean Tank.
