One thing I’ve learned to do as an avid traveler with an aging dog is find places the family can visit with our precious pooch in tow. Discovering Staypineapple opened up a new world of possibilities for us with a chain of hotels curated to accommodate the whole family, including our favorite furry member.
Staypineapple is a unique hotel brand offering accommodations in major cities across the country (Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Boston and New York City). Each property is ideally situated within the host city, so families can easily navigate the sites and attractions without putting too much effort into transportation (for example, the San Diego location, Hotel Z, is in the Gaslamp District, one of the most popular areas of the city for tourists). And to make things even more convenient, each property has bikes guests can use to get around town.
But what really makes Staypineapple stand out is its welcoming approach to the family pooch, and February (or as Staypineapple calls it, Doguary) is a great time to plan a trip. Staypineapple not only welcomes pets (simply let them know when booking so you’ll get a pet-friendly room), but you are also able to leave your dog in your room while you are out, so the family won’t have to miss out on local attractions that don’t allow dogs.
The hotel will provide you with a special “Do Not Disturb” sign (which actually reads “My owner is out exploring, please go away”) that lets housekeeping know there is a pet alone in the room so they don’t accidentally surprise your pooch. When you are away from the hotel and leave your pet behind in the room, simply let the front desk know so they can contact you in case an emergency arises.
Although Staypineapple loves dogs and loves when guests bring their dogs, in February, or Doguary, they love to show their pet appreciation with special offers (although truthfully, they cater to pups all year long). With the Pineapple Pup package, you get discounts on pet fees, a dog bed to use in your room and treats to pamper your furbaby (also always available in the lobby). The package additionally includes a set of collapsible food and water bowls and a waste bag dispenser full of waste bags you get to keep after your stay.
