Multigenerational

For adventure seekers, no family travel trip is complete without a visit somewhere unique and mysterious. Should north Florida be on your radar this summer, make sure to visit Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna, Florida, the only Florida state park with caves accessible to the public. The caves lie a little more than an hour’s drive from Tallahassee.

Book a cave tour to experience the wonder of the limestone caves, seeing rock formations created over thousands of years up close. A new state-of-the-art LED lighting system now accompanies guests on their tour to see more of the cave than ever before. Offered five days a week, Thursday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors begin the journey by walking down 35 steps to the entrance of the cave.

Year-round, the cave stays at a cool 65 degrees, and the dimly lit caverns are a stark contrast to the Florida sun. Learn about the cave’s history, from its geological formations more than 38 million years ago to human’s first discovery of the cave system. Witness stalactites, stalagmites, columns and flowstones. Keep your ears open for the sounds of bats, mice, crickets and salamanders, as well as the occasional frog.

Tickets must be purchased to access the cave, and it is recommended to arrive early, as cave tickets sell out in advance, especially on the weekends. Tickets are $13.75 for visitors ages 13 and up, $5 for children ages 3–12 and free for children 2 years and younger.
