If Louisiana isn’t on your 2024 summer family travel list, it should be. From culinary festivals like Baton Rouge Soul Food Festival to niche events, here are some fun opportunities for travelers of all ages to experience in Louisiana.
On June 1, don’t miss A Taste of Covington Food, Wine, Music & Art Festival, where Covington showcases the best food and beverages it has to offer. Year after year the festival highlights the rich culture and unique history of downtown St. Tammany Parrish. Tickets must be purchased in advance as they won’t be available on site.
If that doesn’t seem like something your family is interested in, check out the 74th Annual Louisiana Peach Festival, also June 1. The peach festival started as an initiative to help peach farmers promote their industry to surrounding states. Now, the event is a yearly tradition that promotes peaches as well as highlights local talent in Lincoln Parrish.
June 1 is a popular festival day in Louisiana because Beats on the Bayou is also held. Enjoy performances by talented musicians across all genres on the scenic waterfront.
For those going later in the summer, there is still plenty to do. Explore historic sites and attractions where you’ll learn more about destinations past. Head to Louisiana State Museum or The Biedenharn Museum & Garden, the historic home of Joseph Biedenharn, the first Coca Cola bottler.
There’s nothing better than being outdoors in the summer. Travelers visiting Louisiana can enjoy the great outdoors by deep-sea fishing. Be on the lookout for trout in Block 69 rigs or redfish in Shell Island Bay. For help planning your fishing trip, visit Louisiana’s website.
