Sometimes the best way to get to know a destination isn’t by hitting up all the popular tourist attractions, it’s instead finding those hidden gems that make a place special and unique. South Dakota now makes that easy for family travelers with a free mobile passport called the Great Finds Passport.
The passport takes you to great places you may not otherwise find or consider stopping at on your own. The places featured in the passport are considered hidden gems by locals and travelers in the know. From under-the-radar restaurants offering great home-made food to fun outdoor adventures like great swimming holes, the stops recommended by the passport let you and your family experience South Dakota like a local and go home with great memories of a unique vacation.
The program is designed to not just be fun, but also rewarding by offering discounts and prizes along the way as you explore the state. When you visit one of the passport’s great finds, show your phone to the staff and receive special discounts from the business. You can also log points, automatically added to your count when you visit a participating place with the app’s GPS system. Once you’ve logged enough points to be eligible for prizes, South Dakota-themed items, like stickers, t-shirts and a hammock or backpack, are shipped directly to you.
The passport is available to anyone with a mobile phone. Just visit here with your phone’s browser, sign up for the passport and add it to your home screen. It is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices and, once it is on your home screen, you are all set to explore South Dakota.
