Exposition Park is one of those rarities in Los Angeles — a place full of free ways to entertain the whole family! Families looking to explore L.A. without breaking the bank should spend a day here to see some of the best family fun the city has to offer.

Whether looking for a relaxing place to enjoy the great Southern California sunshine or for a fascinating museum to entertain and educate the family, Exposition Park is the place to find what you are looking for.

The 160-acre area, located just south of Downtown L.A., was once a privately owned racetrack and fairgrounds. In 1913, the grounds became a place for the local community to enjoy the beauty and cultural heritage of the city. Today, it is home to museums, sports arenas and beautiful gardens, making sure you have plenty of choices.

The California Science Center mixes entertainment with education through its interactive exhibits designed for kids of all ages. In addition to temporary exhibits like “Dogs! A Science Tail,” opening March 16, the museum is home to numerous permanent exhibits that showcase learning and promote curiosity and exploration. While entrance to the museum and most of its exhibits is free, there are some features, such as the Space Shuttle Endeavor and the IMAX theater, which require a paid admission ticket.

The California African American Museum is also free to explore. The museum, which focuses on the cultural heritage and history of African Americans in California and the Pacific regions of America, has exhibits featuring artwork and history, educational programs and workshops, along with concerts and performances throughout the year.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County focuses on nature, both past and present. The museum’s fascinating exhibits include specimens dating back 4.5 billion years and range from insects and birds to mammals and dinosaurs.

Once you’ve had your fill of the indoors and want to get some fresh air, head outside to the City of Los Angeles Rose Garden, a beautifully landscaped garden filled with flowers, fountains and outdoor sculptures. The garden is a great place for a stroll and ideal for enjoying an afternoon picnic with the family.

While the museums and gardens of Exposition Park are free for everyone to enjoy, there are few paid events as well. Home to the Los Angeles Football Club, the Banc of California Stadium hosts Major League Soccer games and concerts. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Fort Lauderdale Just Got a Lot More Accessible for Families

Fort Lauderdale is already known for great weather and great beaches, but for family travelers who need accessible destinations, the city just got even better. Greater Fort Lauderdale recently collaborated with KultureCity, a nonprofit organization working to increase sensory awareness, accessibility and inclusiveness in public spaces. Through this partnership, the Greater Fort Lauderdale area has recently become the world’s first KultureCity-certified sensory accessible and inclusive beach destination. While that title is bit of a mouthful, it means great things for families traveling with special needs.

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.

On Location: Experience The Real-Life Settings of Your Favorite Films and TV Shows

Set-jetting is more than just a cute play on words. It’s a travel concept that lets you visit the real-life settings of some of your favorite movies and television shows. At one time you had to go someplace like Universal Studios in Hollywood to visit your favorite movie and television show sets. While you can still take studio tours (the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London is the place to go if you are a diehard fan of the Harry Potter franchise), these days there are filming locations all over the world, and the tourism industry makes visiting them in person as easy as buying a plane ticket.
