Travel Tips

On your next trip abroad, experience firsthand why the people of Norway have been named the happiest in the world. The incredible scenery, natural wonders and vast openness offer much more than the average family trip. Venture to the Scandinavian country and experience the Northern Lights, fjords and stunning natural beauty amid a bustling urban lifestyle. First task, getting there.

Traveling with kids (of any age) is no small task. You have to gather passports, check expiration dates, get tickets, pack luggage, set alarms, arrange rides and get to the airport, but one task made simpler will be your destination. No matter where your family is flying in, you have two main options depending on the style of your trip. Check out the proximity and offerings of the country’s top airports and plan your stay with ease.

Oslo Airport

Fly into the capital city, Oslo, at the main airport hub, Oslo Airport. Although the busiest airport, Oslo is the most convenient for getting into the city and offers easy transportation by way of shuttle train, Flytoget Airport Express Train. Grab the luggage and kids and head to the Flytoget Train, departing every 10–20 minutes. The time gap is convenient with transports allowing for enough time to catch one without having to wait too long with tired kids. Travelers are in the city in about 19–22 minutes, for fast, easy and affordable travel getting in and out of Oslo.

Enjoy the city’s bustling nightlife, burgeoning restaurant scene and pristine downtown area. Shop and sightsee by day and head out for shows, drinks and lively entertainment by night.

Bergen Airport

To get to the fjords, fly into Bergen Airport in Bergen, Norway. The western region offers close proximity to the country’s famous fjords and endless wild beauty, while providing modern comforts and easy access to urban life. You’ll have the same comforts as a city hotel, but with a quieter atmosphere and more remote locale.

The natural beauty of Bergen offers a unique getaway, complete with quaint villages and old wharf towns, historic fortresses and stunning views. Located along the southwestern coast, the vibrant homes of Bergen are surrounded by fjords, mountains and panoramic views.

To visit both the exciting atmosphere and urban wonders of Oslo and the great wide wild, rent a car or hire one to stay half the trip in the country and half in the city. You can easily fly into the city and out of the country, or visa versa, depending on the length of your stay.

Le Conquet: France’s Secret Beach Town

At the far western edge of mainland France, the active fishing port of Le Conquet stands in layers of stone buildings rising from the harbor. Houses from the 16th and 17th centuries line the seawall in a tight-packed row, the colorful shutters brightening the stone facades. For travelers, Le Conquet is more than just a picturesque Breton town; it’s a good base for a family beach holiday.
