Destinations / North America

Hipcamp, a campsite booking company, partnered with Subaru to bring a resource of 10 electric, vehicle-ready road trips across the United States to family travelers. With the age of new American EV road trips upon us, family road trippers can now experience the beauty of the continental United States with a guide showcasing EV charging stations, as well as pet- and family-friendly stays.

And, with more than 80 percent of Hipcamp sites now located near publicly accessible EV stations, family travelers can easily travel across the country.

Hipcamp’s 10 classic American road trip routes include Blue Ridge Parkway, starting in Shenandoah National Park before leading to the Smoky Mountains. This route features two national parks, the city of Asheville and various waterfall hikes.

The California Coast route begins in Redwood National and State Park. Road trippers can then head south to take in views of the West Coast while passing through places like Glass Beach, Capitola Beach and Huntington State Beach, with a final stop at Cabrillo National Monument.

Journey along famous Route 66 in Chicago and travel through staples like Route 66 State Park, the Blue Whale of Catoosa, Tulsa, Albuquerque and Santa Fe National Forest. This route ends at Santa Monica Pier.

Great Lakes

Or opt for a journey around the Great Lakes, starting in Duluth before stopping at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, the Keweenaw Peninsula, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Other routes include Grand Canyon State, Grand West, Sierra Nevada, Chihuahuan Desert, Olympic Peninsula and Utah’s Might 5.
