The Rabbit hOle in Kansas City, Missouri, is officially open to family travelers. The multisensory museum provides visitors with immersive experiences of classic children’s books, including Goodnight Moon, Madeline, Strega Nona and Frog and Toad Together.

Located in a 100-year-old warehouse, The Rabbit hOle will never be “finished,” as the museum plans to continually add exhibits and expand to additional floors in the 15,000-square-foot building. The museum’s in-house creative team of more than two dozen artists designed and built all of the exhibits, transforming the warehouse space into an immersive wonderland. National design studio Multistudio was the architect-of-record and served as an advisor on materials and circulation for the building.

“The Rabbit hOle is a singular destination that’ll be spoken of as near-legend on local playgrounds and shared between the young-at-heart as a you’ve-gotta-go-there experience—a recommendation passed between friends like a gift,” said Jay Holley, vice president, Multistudio. “It’s been immensely rewarding to help the artists inside the hOle realize this museum of children’s literature in North Kansas City that’s sure to surprise, delight, and educate visitors of all ages.”

In addition to the evolving exhibits, The Rabbit hOle also features a bookstore, print shop, story lab, maker space, library and discovery gallery. The space will host art- and literature-based programming, workshops, author and illustrator events, and field trips.
