As families venture south to the Gulf Coast beaches, make a pit stop along the way to Alabama’s newest and most exciting outdoor adventure attraction at Montgomery Whitewater Park. This park is guaranteed to take a warm-weather escape to the next level for family travelers.
Spanning 120 acres of green space, Montgomery Whitewater Park features a climbing wall, kids’ ropes courses, a bouldering wall and mountain bike rentals. At the heart of the park, however, lies the 12 million-gallon, state-of-the-art, Olympic-level whitewater course.
Perfect for group rafting or solo adventures in a canoe, kayak or inflatable ducky kayak, this whitewater course offers rapids ranging from class II to IV, ideal for both beginners and seasoned pros.
Visitors not too keen on the thrill of the rapids course can enjoy relaxing on the covered patio. There’s also an on-site restaurant, Eddy’s Restaurant, to enjoy a bite and, for the parents and adult children, a craft beer, all while taking in views of the whitewater course.
Montgomery Whitewater Park sits two minutes from downtown Montgomery and about three hours from the Gulf Coast. Admission is free and the park is pet-friendly. Passes for water activities can be purchased online or in person at the park.
