Texas has much in store for family travelers in the coming years, from new parks to new museums. Here’s what’s coming to the state soon:
Texas’ Newest State Park
Palo Pinto State Park will occupy thousands of acres of former ranch land about 75 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Once developed, this park will be the place to go hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, stargazing, fishing, camping and more. The park will also feature scenic vistas overlooking sheltered canyons.
The First Netflix House in the State
This permanent entertainment venue (opening this fall) will bring the magic of your favorite Netflix shows and characters to life. The venue, just one of two in the United States, will include regularly updated experiences, dining inspired by popular series and films, and exclusive retail offerings.
All Things Golf Venue
The Putting Mill hits Spring Branch this year, featuring two 18-hole miniature golf courses, a golf simulator and six pickleball courts. The space will also feature a bar serving beer and margaritas, as well as Belgian pretzels, popcorn and ice cream.
The National Juneteenth Museum
In 2026, this monumental museum in Fort Worth will open its doors to the public. This museum will be dedicated to telling the history of Juneteenth.
Brand-New Virtual Basketball and Restaurant
Opening later this year, JumpShot Inc. will be the first location for JumpShot Live, set to debut in The Colony in Dallas-Fort Worth. JumpShot is described as a basketball dreamscape, complete with tech-enabled basketball games for all skill levels, as well as a full-service kitchen and bar.
Alamo Visitor Center and Museum
The Alamo’s 300-year history will be shared like never before in this new museum, slated to open in 2027 in San Antonio. The visitor center and museum will span nearly 160,000 square feet, boasting special event spaces and a 4-D theater.
Family Retailer Opens
Earlier this year, CAMP, a brand known for family experiences, opened in The Galleria. This space includes a toy store, party venue and immersive theater. Additionally, this specific CAMP location features the Bluey x CAMP adventure.
An Expanded Urban Ecology Center
In McAllen, Quinta Mazatlan will soon undergo a massive expansion. The renovation and expansion will see the creation of an education center, Children’s Discovery Center, research lab and more. Quinta Mazatlan educates visitors on birds, plants and environmental stewardship in South Texas.
