Visit Panama City Beach recently announced its “Fun. For. All.” accessible travel initiative has new offerings and developments, making the destination even more accessible and inclusive for all types of family travel.
Thanks to all its efforts and changes, Panama City Beach recently earned the Destination Verified Seal by inclusive online booking platform, Wheel the World. With this seal, Wheel the World helps the recognized destination by assessing accessibility and provide education and guidance for more accessible advancements and resources for hotels, attractions and restaurants.
Below are a few of Panama City Beach’s new accessible developments:
Edward F. Hickey Jr. Park
With a goal to make all the destination’s stunning beaches accessible to everyone, Edward F. Hickey, Jr. Park at Beach Access 22 was recently converted into a new ADA beach access point. All of the new features were designed to accommodate those with mobility challenges and includes handicapped parking spaces, an accessible beach ramp and mobility mats that extend from sand to shoreline.
Camp Helen State Park
Situated over the border of Panama City Beach, Camp Helen State Park is home to pristine beaches, hiking and walking trails, a rare dune lake, and a variety of accessible amenities. An accessible ramp and pier have been added to allow all visitors to explore the tranquil surroundings. Travelers can also get a beach wheelchair at the park’s visitor center.
