Every year, I look forward to hearing when peak bloom for Washington, D.C.’s, cherry blossoms is predicted to occur. Even after 20 years of living in the city, I still look forward to watching the city come alive as the delicate, pink blossoms peak out from their buds and then explode in a riot of color. For the uninitiated, peak bloom is the day the cherry blossom trees lining the National Mall and scattered throughout the city have the most petals for the season.

Can’t make it to the city for peak bloom? Don’t worry. Although peak bloom may only last a day, the city’s cherry blossom trees are full of the iconic pale, pink flowers for a few weeks before and after peak bloom, meaning you can still witness their beauty throughout April.

Moreover, celebrating cherry blossoms is practically a religion in Washington, D.C. The National Cherry Blossom Festival hosts cherry blossom-themed events around the city. Throughout spring, stores are decorated with pink petals, and restaurants serve drinks, treats and entire meals inspired by cherry blossoms.

If you come to town to see the cherry blossoms, stay at a hotel with a cherry blossom package. Attend a cherry blossom-themed tea at Waldorf Astoria or book a cherry blossom-fueled stay at another Washington, D.C. Hilton, offering cherry blossom-themed stays, including Conrad Washington DC’s Sakura Stay Experience.

If you cannot make it to the city to see the cherry blossoms in person, watch them bloom live online.
