Cruises

Now is the time to reserve a cabin for a spring cruise for the whole family or a parents’ getaway for two. April and May itineraries offer cruise experiences all over the world, and booking now can mean discounted fares in places as diverse as the Caribbean, Dutch Canals and Islands of Scotland. Plan spring travel now for the best bargains.

Royal Caribbean offers seven-night Caribbean itineraries from as low as $566, with 60 percent discount for the second passenger, and kids sail free. Itineraries include Mexico, where you can explore Mayan ruins of Tulum, enjoy lively Cancún and dive in sea caves.

For an entirely different cruise and island experience, Hebridean Island Cruises now offers a 15 percent discount on April and May itineraries in the Scottish lochs and islands. Hebridean Princess and Lord of the Highlands are known for impeccable service, fine local cuisine and fascinating itineraries that delve deep into Scottish culture. The season’s first sailing, April 5–11, is a week-long voyage through the Caledonian Canal, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen, and to the islands of Mull and historic Iona. Or be at Culloden for the anniversary of the Battle of Culloden, after stops at the two islands.

Nothing says spring quite like fields of tulips in full bloom, and AmaWaterways’ Tulip Time cruises offer plenty of them. Along with tulip fields and gardens are windmills, charming canal-side villages and Dutch chocolate. Fares are discounted as much as 20 percent, and boats are equipped with bicycles, so you can explore on your own or join the curated tours. A highlight is the full-day tour of medieval Bruges, Belgium.

For longer vacations, AmaWaterways offers 14-night Grand River Cruises, combining some of Europe’s most popular itineraries into a single voyage. The 2025 season sees three new combinations — Grand Seine & Bordeaux, Grand Seine & Rhône and Grand Rhine & Dutch Canal. Discounts are as high as 20 percent and include transfers between rivers.
