As an increasingly popular destination, Positano is still a mostly unspoiled Italian region. With a population of around 4,000 citizens, this Italian Riviera locale offers the best of quaint Italian village life with the added attractions of crystal-blue waters, sweeping coastline views, fresh seafood and family-friendly activities and attractions.
Many hotels in Positano include a typical Italian breakfast of breads, fruit and coffee, but a few euros for something sweet at a local café and a strong espresso is hard to beat. Stroll along the quiet streets and hit the beach, watching the sunrise over the Mediterranean before the locals even wake up.
Kids of any age will easily spend the day swimming and eating gelato — and at €2–3 a cone, it will be easy and affordable to do so. Head inside the vibrant yet quaint shops for a bit of bargain hunting or check out the street vendors and markets scattered through the narrow footpaths and alleyways.

The cobblestone streets will be lined with vendors selling artisan crafts, while the shops are often filled with painted glass, pottery and linen clothing, famously designed in the former textile town. No need for cab fare or rented vehicles, as this town is easily walkable from top to bottom.
After a full day of bargaining in shops, hiking, swimming and sunbathing, relax on a boat tour along the Riviera for around €40. Boats go out for an hour or more and depending on the size of the group, can be quite affordable.
Take in the incredible sites and culture of Positano and splurge on a city tour. Ranging from €20–40 a person, visitors hop on a tour bus just outside of town and take a tour of the surrounding cities of Amalfi and Sorrento.
For dinner, drinks and a view, La Cambusa offers exceptional seafood, fresh vegetables and, for parents, fine wine and cocktail selections are listed for a fair price. With most ingredients locally grown, caught and prepared, dishes are more affordable at this seaside restaurant than other more touristy destinations found in town.
