Philadelphia’s Dilworth Park is the epicenter of the city, making it the gathering place for many events in the area. Located directly behind the historic City Hall, this city centerpiece has a café, a lively garden with whimsical topiaries, tons of seating, and a fountain to play in on hot summer days. Free events are on tap through the spring and summer for the whole family to enjoy.
The Free Library of Philadelphia hosts open-air story time in the Wintergarden. Children of all ages can enjoy a theatrically read story while enjoying the bright flowers and twinkle lights on Tuesdays, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
Through April 14, the entire family can visit the Wintergarden for live entertainment. Performances include musical guests, dance ensembles, local artists and cultural groups. The performances are every Wednesday starting at 6 p.m.
Family Saturday’s kick off at 11 a.m. The entire family can get creative with chalk on the smooth pavement while listening to live music. For the more athletic, players from the Philadelphia Union soccer team will host kiddie boot camps to enhance and teach soccer skills with the pros.
Running through October and geared more toward adults, Center City Fit presented by Rothman Orthopedics provides free fitness classes 6–7 p.m. Classes are led by expert trainers in Zumba, HIIT and cardio-blasting boot camps.
All programs require guests to wear masks and socially distance to ensure safety.
