Spring has sprung in New Orleans, Louisiana, for family travelers! Bring your crew to the Big Easy this season for a variety of family-friendly festivals, events and attractions.
New Orleans is known as a mecca for foodies, and one of the most iconic dishes is boiled crawfish. The annual NOLA Crawfish Festival takes place April 29–May 1 this year. The popular event features plenty of boiled crawfish, as well as other Louisiana favorites. Live music also takes place throughout the festival. If you’d rather explore the city’s restaurant scene, check out a spot famous for crawfish, including Frankie & Johnny’s, Superior Seafood, Melba’s and Cooter Brown’s.
Two of the most popular festivals in New Orleans take place in the spring: French Quarter Festival and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The French Quarter Festival celebrates one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods: the French Quarter. Held April 11–14 this year, the event highlights food from iconic New Orleans establishments and live performances on 20 stages throughout the French Quarter. Jazz Fest takes place across two weekends, with this year’s event April 25–28 and May 2–5. The popular festival showcases a variety of performers from around the world. Shop the booths of local artists and sample classic Louisiana cuisine.
