Plan family travel to Canada this fall and experience the country’s stunning foliage.
Experience fall foliage in the Canadian Rockies on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail and Columbia & Western Rail Trail in British Columbia. This route brings travelers through Fraser Valley and Okanagan Lake, offering views of vivid changing colors. Ontario’s Agawa Canyon Train Tour is one of the region’s most unique leaf-peeping experiences. The train’s large viewing windows afford breathtaking views of changing leaves, rugged mountains and Lake Superior. Once in the canyon, travelers have the opportunity to climb to the top of the lookout for an even more stunning panoramic view.
For those interested in viewing the Northern Lights, Canada’s Northwest Territories offer viewing opportunities throughout the fall. Head to Yellowknife or Aurora Village for prime viewpoints swirling among fall foliage colors.
In addition to leaf peeping, Canada hosts exciting fall festivals. Prince Edward Island hosts two popular annual events. Fall Flavours Culinary Festival runs Sept. 26 –Oct. 12 and showcases the flavors of the region. Victorian Harvest Feast takes place now through Oct. 31 and offers a glimpse into traditional cooking methods of the past. Head to Québec for Mont Sutton Fall Festival. The month-long festival celebrates all things fall with a variety of free and paid experiences including live music, zip lining, wine tastings and more. This year’s event takes place Sept. 14–Oct. 14.
