Victoria, British Columbia, invites visitors to learn more about the cultural and culinary heritage of the Greater Victoria region through its self-guided itineraries, the Flavour Trails. The destination recently launched a new tour: Barns, Beaches & Beyond. The new trail takes travelers outside of downtown Victoria to the towns of Langford, Metchosin and Sooke.
- Stop 1: Begin the day at House of Boateng. This café utilizes locally sourced ingredients in its West African, Caribbean and Pacific Northwest fusion cuisine menu.
- Stop 2: Bilston Creek Farm is home to beautiful lavender fields. Sample local honey and lavender-infused treats while learning about the history of the farm. End your visit with a stop at on-site Wildwood Saunas.
- Stop 3: Next door is Satinflower Nurseries. This local nursery specializes in native plants and their importance to the island’s ecosystem. Bring home seeds to plant in your garden.
- Stop 4: Enjoy lunch at My Chosen Café. The rustic restaurant has been serving hearty meals in Metchosin since 1987.
- Stop 5: Spend time wandering the rolling meadows of East Sooke Park. With lush greenery and seaside views, it’s a perfect spot for a photo opportunity.
- Stop 6: Experience elevated Asian comfort food at Hide N Seek. This popular food truck operates at its own dog-friendly patio.
- Stop 7: End your experience with a drink at Sheringham Distillery. This award-winning Seaside Gin sources local seaweed for a unique flavor profile.
- Bonus: Book a hands-on experience with blacksmith Jake James and learn how to forge your own item to bring home.
