Family travelers will be delighted to know Shelburne Museum’s, in Shelburne, Vermont, Winter Lights holiday light spectacular will return this year with new light installations. Don’t worry, perennial favorites also return.
Winter Lights runs for six weeks, from late November through early January. Visitors can stroll the museum’s grounds to take in landmarks — like the 220-foot Ticonderoga steamboat, 1871 Lighthouse, Beach Woods and Bostwick Garden — bedecked in thousands of lights.
New this year is a circus display featuring whimsical figures inspired by the museum’s collection and illuminated under a Big Top of lights. Also new are sea creatures modeled after the museum’s collection of weathervanes. These creatures “float” on water created by a sea of lights, located near Ticonderoga. For the first time, the Sawmill and Covered Bridge will be illuminated.
The spectacular opens Nov. 21 and runs through Jan. 5. Tickets are now on sale. Limited drive-through tickets are available on select evenings, and the adults-only Ice Bar event is held Dec. 7. Online tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 3–17. Children 3 years of age and younger are free. If purchased at the door, tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for children.
