Bring your childhood fantasies to life for the whole family on your next family travels. From embracing your inner ballerina to scuba diving along the coast, these experiences encourage everyone to put down their phones to reconnect with each other and, for the parents, their inner child.
Here are three family travel experiences to live out childhood dreams:
Unleash You Inner Pro-Athlete
In Montego Bay, Jamaica, The Tryall Club, a rental villa community, invites children ages 5–12 to join the Kids’ Club Program. Here, kids can enjoy arts and crafts, body art painting, beach games, board games, karaoke, in-house games, lawn games, nature tours and more. Nature tours introduce kids to different species of birds and local flora and fauna. Other fun activities include musical games, tie-dye and t-shirt painting, paper crafts and sports.
Even better? Both parents and kids can make use of the Pickleball Concierge, in which personalized equipment arrives at their door. This concierge can also set up private coaching lessons and work with a private chef to create a post-game meal. Game on!
Embrace Your Inner Ballerina
American Ballet Theatre presents ABTKids, a special, one-hour performance curated for kids. These performances aim to introduce kids to the magic and beauty of dance and allow kids to follow a member of staff as they narrate the performance. Designed for kids ages 5–12, this program includes kid-friendly highlights from the company’s repertory. Tickets are available at the Metropolitan Opera House box office in New York City, online or by calling 212 363 6000.
Live Out Your Scuba Diver Dreams
Down in Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida, families can go snorkeling or scuba diving. While scuba diving or snorkeling, look for offshore artificial reefs built to preserve and protect marine life. Dolphins, redfish, crabs, sea horses and sea turtles also roam these waters.
While at the beach, head to Little Adventures, where kids can experience the half-day Discover Scuba program for Scuba Tech or Emerald Coast Scuba. During this program, families learn the basics, try on diving equipment and then try out their new skills in a shallow dive in the calm water near Destin Jetties. Ideal for kids aged 10 and up, this program perfectly introduces families and kids to the wide world of scuba diving.

A week cruising along the Danube or the Rhine may be the stuff of dreams for many, but family travelers can enjoy views from the water in ways kinder to the family budget. Many riverside cities offer scenic cruises, and some Baltic or Mediterranean ports have daytrips to nearby islands or coastal attractions. In several cities you can cruise the canals, and in Switzerland you can spend a day cruising on Lake Geneva, with sightseeing stops in lakeside towns.
Multigenerational
