Luxury

The Chinese New Year may have technically come and gone on Feb. 5, but the Year of the Pig lives on in Chicago. Continue the spring festival fun at The Langham, Chicago, with Traditional Chinese Medicine practices and treatments at the Chuan Spa; a blend of Chinese and Western cuisine in the Pavilion or at Travelle; and an assortment of traditional teas with Wedgwood.

However you wish to celebrate, The Langham, Chicago (and other Langham properties around the world) offer the traditional Eastern touches you’re looking for, coupled with impeccable attention to detail, elevated service and subtle elegance — all the perks of a holiday without stressful crowds or obligation.

Whether in town on business, visiting family or away with friends, there’s a good reason to get in on the Chinese New Year festivities. Spend the day in luxury, wining, dining and relaxing, or check in for a weekend experience. No matter how long you stay, there are a few easy ways to unwind in style and elevate your new year.

Beginning with afternoon tea, guests enjoy a fun Eastern twist on a classic English breakfast. Stick to the theme and choose a traditional Chinese white tea with hibiscus flowers, rosehip and pink rose petals, or keep it classic with English afternoon tea and sweets. Afternoon tea is available for $70 before gratuity and tax.

Any Chinese New Year celebration wouldn’t be complete without a bit of “me” time. After all, this is the time of year we swear we will take better care of ourselves and others. Check out the Chuan Spa’s list of Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments and offerings, including a round of acupuncture and massage therapy. That treatment lasts about 90 minutes and costs $375. Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments are standard at spa, so take your pick. Try a signature facial through Chuan Yu, using ancient Gua Sha techniques, or upgrade to the Of the Orient: Caviar & Crushed Pearl Facial for a luxury treatment to kick off the spring festival. There’s also Ho Guan treatments, or cupping and holistic approaches to Chinese medicine, balance and wellness.

Stick around for some fine dining at dinner and soak up the last of the festivities. You may be just steps from downtown attractions and eateries, but the pull of Travelle’s dinner menu may keep you in — they even have a kids’ menu for the little travelers in your party.
