When you start planning a family trip, there are many questions to consider. What kinds of attractions are there? Will they appeal to the entire family? Are you visiting a city, or going somewhere remote? Finally, is the destination kid-appropriate?

If Montréal is in the cards, here is everything you need to know to start planning a kid-friendly trip to the City of Festivals.

Speaking of, starting with some kid-friendly festivals is a good first step. No matter when the family is heading to the city, there is bound to be some kind of festival. Whether it is the Montréal Jazz Festival for music lovers and kids or the Montréal Cirque Festival, there is always something going on the whole family will love. Festivals are a fun way to introduce kids to a new culture while simultaneously getting an introduction to a new city.

If your trip is leaning toward education, there are plenty of educational and fun activities to explore in and around Montréal. There are plenty of museums and interactive exhibits, including the Montréal Biodome. The dome is currently being renovated, but will be back and better than ever by the time summer 2019 is over. If the family is more interested in art, a trip to Centre Phi is a necessity. It is a centerpiece for art in all forms throughout the region. There are always different programs going on, making this an excellent attraction over multiple visits.

The biodome features four distinct habitats for families to explore. Each one represents a different habitat found somewhere in the Americas. The museum is an excellent way to spend some time, especially if there is bad weather outside.

For some fresh air and activity, take a trip to Mount Royal Park. This park is located just outside and above the city. A brief walk brings you to the top of the park, where a visitor center greets you. This is an excellent place to see the entirety of Montréal, especially on a clear day.

Finally, take the family to Old Port Montréal. The old-styled architecture is the closest thing to traveling to France without leaving the continent. While in the old port, take the family aboard the Montréal Observation Wheel. The giant Ferris wheel lets the whole family sit together as they take in views of the city.

This city is perfect for families traveling with kids, and there are always new festivities making the city a fresh experience.
