Destinations / North America

You may know Florida’s famous East Coast locale of Daytona Beach for the Daytona International Speedway and a spring break season that would make you blush, but this beach town has a lot more to offer.

And a lot more season left in it.

With the fall festival rolling around, families, couples and friends all gather for Florida’s “cooler” season — think 76–86-degree days well into November.

Aptly named WonderFall, Daytona Beach kicks off the family-friendly festival season Oct. 17, and rolls right through Dec. 1.

Biketoberfest Motorcycle Rally October 17–20

Are you a motorhead family? You’re in luck, one of the best motorcycle rallies in the Southeast is hosted in and around Daytona Beach. Stop by different motorcycle shows and custom bike builds, or shop around at hundreds of industry vendor stands. Make your way through the show and still have room enough to spread out on the beach — with 23 miles of Atlantic coastline, even non-riders in the family can easily find something to do.

Halifax Art Festival November 2–3

Step off the beach for a little while and get artsy at the Halifax Art Festival. Hosted in the historic downtown area of Daytona Beach, a range of established and up-and-coming artists and craftsmen showcase their work. Artists and artisans come from all over the country to exhibit at the festival, the second-longest-running art festival in Florida.

Greek Festival November 7–10

Now 43 years running, St. Demetrios Greek Festival is a great way to celebrate Greek culture right in Daytona Beach. Enjoy authentic cuisine and drinks, traditional music, dancing and a slew of fun events. Admission is free, which includes parking and a shuttle service to and from the event.

Daytona Turkey Run Nov. 28–Dec. 1

Sorry to jump ahead to the holiday season, but the annual Daytona Turkey Run doesn’t really scream seasonal tidings. Presented by Daytona Beach Street Rods, head to the Daytona International Speedway to check out thousands of unique automobiles. Meet vendors and get a new perspective on this famous venue.

Still looking for a festival that speaks to your family’s interests? No problem, Daytona Beach hosts more than 60 events, festivals and fun celebrations throughout the year. You’re bound to find a few worth traveling to the Sunshine State for, even if it’s just a good excuse to get some beach time in well into the fall and winter.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.

Some of Europe’s Best Day Cruises

A week cruising along the Danube or the Rhine may be the stuff of dreams for many, but family travelers can enjoy views from the water in ways kinder to the family budget. Many riverside cities offer scenic cruises, and some Baltic or Mediterranean ports have daytrips to nearby islands or coastal attractions. In several cities you can cruise the canals, and in Switzerland you can spend a day cruising on Lake Geneva, with sightseeing stops in lakeside towns.
