Looking to make the most of a family vacation in California? Good news! Two local companies — Visit California and Little Passports — teamed up to create printable activities and interactive online content designed to help maximize your precious vacation days. The content, which includes a map, puzzles and games, is both educational and fun and is geared toward kids and parents who want to learn more about the Golden State.

“At Little Passports, we inspire kids to explore their world, so it was a natural fit to partner with Visit California,” said Amy Norman, co-founder and co-CEO, Little Passports, a San Francisco-based National Parenting Publication Award winner and a Parent Tested Parent Approved company founded by two moms to supply engaging content for families. “We’re excited to create fun and unique experiences for kids and families that celebrate the wonders of the state, including an interactive online map,” Norman said.

Visit California, a nonprofit marketing organization that promotes travel to the state in partnership with the California travel industry, also takes its commitment to fun seriously. The Little Passports collaboration is just the latest kid-friendly venture, coming on the heels of a family campaign called “Kidifornia,” launched in February. The idea behind both campaigns is to showcase the huge menu of family-friendly activities in the state. Sure, there are world-class theme parks, but don’t forget the inviting beaches, national and state parks and museums.

“With so much for families to discover in California, Little Passports is the perfect partner for us,” said Caroline Beteta, president and CEO, Visit California. “Together, we are encouraging hands-on learning through travel and inspiring the next generation of adventurers.”

As California continues to grow its family-friendly attractions, Little Passports and Visit California are planning to expand content and offerings. A sweepstakes to win an all-inclusive family trip to California is already in the early planning stages, for example, and plans are underway to offer Little Passports activities in California Welcome Centers.

Little Passports, which also offers packages and additional educational products to other domestic and international destinations, is subscription based at four levels: World Edition, USA Edition, Early Explorers and Science Expeditions, and you can buy them at littlepassports.com in monthly, six-month and 12-month versions, starting at $12.95 per month.
