Fall is in the air! Leaves are changing color and the weather is starting to get cooler. Growing up in Pennsylvania, I get to experience all four seasons and fall is easily my favorite. There is just something about all the colors and activities that come along with the season, especially in Pennsylvania.
If you find yourself in the state during the fall, head to one of these must-visit locales for the best fall foliage.
New Hope, Bucks County
As a Bucks County resident, I may be biased, but one of my favorite places to go in fall is New Hope for several reasons. The first is to walk across the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge to enjoy the fall air and take in the beautiful scenery on the banks of the Delaware River. During the walk over the bridge you get a great view of the foliage from both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The next place you must visit in New Hope is Bowman’s Hill Tower. The tower was built in 1929 and, at the top, offers a 360-degree view of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey sides of the Delaware River — on a clear day the view can stretch up to 14 miles.
The Reading Pagoda
Located atop Mount Penn, The Reading Pagoda overlooks all of downtown Reading, offering breathtaking views of the town and Berks County. The Japanese-style pagoda provides an amazing bird’s-eye view of the surrounding area and fall foliage.
Pennsylvania Grand Canyon
Officially known as Pine Creek Gorge, but commonly referred to as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, this area offers miles and miles of trails to wander, perfect to enjoy the fall foliage.
Although, if you are looking for the best views, head to one of several observation platforms.
