North America

This spring and summer, Wyoming has plenty to offer in the way of family travel. Expect many happenings in the state with new hotel openings, Yellowstone’s 150th anniversary and much more coming this spring and summer.

Yellowstone’s Anniversary

This year, Yellowstone National Park turns 150 years old, and the park looks better than ever. Rich in culture and historical resources, the park features 25 sites, landmarks and districts. The park will celebrate its birthday all spring with a series of special events corresponding to the anniversary. For the full list, visit Yellowstone’s website.

New Hotels

Newly opened in January, The Virginian Lodge is a modern motor lodge featuring old west magic in guestrooms, as well as the largest all-season outdoor pool. Cloudveil, another hotel recently hitting the scenes, earns the title as the only hotel in Jackson’s historic Town Square. The Mill House, a female-owned boutique hotel tucked away in the mountains of Lander, offers small town vibes with all the modern comforts.

New Cultural Attractions

The National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois celebrates its grand opening May 28.  Guests can visit this new museum or go back to some of the original (and recently reopened) favorites such as Jackson Hole Performing Art Center, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, National Museum of Wildlife Art, Brinton Museum and the University of Wyoming Geological Museum.

Festivals and Rodeos

Some of the state’s beloved festivals and rodeos return this summer, like the Cheyenne Celtic Festival & Highland Games(June 11–12), the Vintage Camper Show (June 18), Grand Teton Music Festival (July 3–Aug. 27), Sheridan Wyoming Rodeo and Cheyenne Frontier Days, which will feature country music stars including Dierks Bently, Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, Brooks & Dunn and Nelly.
