A peaceful destination for family travelers and travelers with pets, Cloudcroft, New Mexico, features countless activities for everyone to enjoy this summer. Located within Lincoln National Forest, Cloudcroft is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. From a new dog park to a new summer tube run, the area offers visitors the chance to make some unforgettable memories while staying cool this summer.

Ski Cloudcroft’s new summer tube run invites adventure seekers to take a 460-foot thrilling ride down Tubing Hill. Those who cannot get enough of the great outdoors can also hit the trails at Lincoln National Forest, including the scenic Osha Trail, or visit the historic Mexican Canyon Trestle. Lincoln National Forest comprises more than 1.1 million acres, featuring Sunspot Observatory and campgrounds, as well as horseback-riding and mountain-biking trails.

 

Mexican Canyon Trestle, a must-see in Cloudcroft, lies in a remote area of the Sacramento Mountains in Lincoln National Forest. Visitors can see this historic wooden bridge, built in 1899, from several viewpoints in the park.

At Sacramento Mountains Museum and Pioneer Village, walk through exhibits, explore the general store for souvenirs and learn more about New Mexico’s pioneer past. The museum boasts extensive exhibits with photographs and historical accounts of pioneers’ lives in the region, as well as the building of the railroad and the founding of Cloudcroft. Pioneer Village includes a log cabin for visitors to see what life was like during the early days of farming.
