Elevate family travel with Off the Map Travel this winter by booking two new glass igloos frozen into a secluded lagoon to sleep next to a glacier in Iceland. Available for booking now for travel mid-January to March 2023, the “igloo boats” are part of an exclusive tour and accessible only by boat or all-terrain vehicle.
“This is a magical way to experience the Northern Lights and the quiet beauty of the Scandinavian winter wilderness. It’s pretty amazing to sleep secluded in an igloo that’s been frozen into a lagoon of glacial meltwater,” said Alex Minnis, chief operations officer, Off the Map Travel. “You get a true feeling of the imposing glacier framed by the vast star-filled arctic sky. And, if you’re lucky, you’ll see the dancing Aurora Borealis.”
The guided, five-night/six-day Private Glacier Lagoon Adventure includes the overnight by the Vatnajokull glacier, designed to optimize experiencing the Northern Lights. With no light pollution in the area, the igloos also include panoramic glass walls for uninterrupted views. The igloos measure nine square meters with a double bed, bathroom, WiFi, central heating and hot drinks.
The Private Glacier Lagoon Adventure begins in Reykjavik with a guided road trip with driver to Myrdalsjokull, before dinner at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon. Based on two people traveling, the itinerary is priced at $8,799 per night, including all accommodations, a private boat tour to an island with Champagne and lunch, a guided trip to a special location (determined by weather and seasonality), a private guide and driver, and daily breakfast.
