When family travel coincides with a holiday like Halloween, don’t let the fact you are away from home prevent you and your family from having the time of your lives! If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area this October, the City of Angels has plenty of spooky fun in store.

Walk With The Dead

Universal Studios is up to its usual Halloween tricks with another year of Halloween Horror Nights. While the park remains its usual entertainment mecca during the day, by night it comes alive with mazes and haunts. This year’s festivities include its own version of ‘The Upside Down’ with a Stranger Things Maze. Other hauntingly spectacular experiences this year include the Walking Dead Attraction, the Terror Tram and Trick ‘R Treat, all prepared to scare.

Hang Out at The Cemetery

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is one of the oldest in the city of Los Angeles. It is home to the remains of Hollywood legends like Jayne Mansfield and Rudolph Valentino and has its share of ghostly legends. It is also one of the creepiest places to see a movie, if you dare! Cinespia, the company behind this unique experience, has given audiences a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience since 2002 when they began showing outdoor movies on the sprawling lawn of the property. This year’s October showings include Young Frankenstein (Oct. 13) and Halloween (Oct. 20).

Head back to the cemetery Oct. 27 for the Dia De Los Muertos Celebration, the largest Day of the Dead festival in Los Angeles. The cemetery is transformed with colorful displays and decorations with festivities that not only entertain but honor the dead as well.

Hang Out With Some Movie Monsters

If you’ve never been to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, this October is the time to check it off your bucket list. The museum will showcase some of the most memorable movie monsters of all time with the “Illusions of Horror” exhibit. Expertly crafted wax renditions of Dracula, Frankenstein and many more will be on display. This will be the safest place to take a selfie with a vampire and live to tell the tale.

Enjoy a Good Old Fashioned Costume Party

If you are in Los Angeles with the little ones on Halloween, they don’t have to miss out on the annual costume tradition. Bring their costumes along and take them to the annual Halloween Party for Downtown L.A. kids in Grand Hope Park. The event will be jam-packed with fun activities like bounce houses and trick-or-treating, guaranteeing your kids enjoy the Halloween festivities even while away from home.
