Finding a reasonably priced hotel in Boston for a couple’s getaway or family travel is a challenge at best, but finding one in a convenient location is even harder. The landmark Boston Park Plaza Hotel could be the answer.
Specials can bring rates as low as $153 a night for a double room, unheard of for downtown Boston, especially for a location in fashionable Back Bay and only a block from the Public Garden. Discounts for multi-night stays can reduce regular rates by as much as 20 percent.
Fresh from a $100-million renovation, guestrooms are sleek, contemporary and well-designed for travelers, with refrigerators, coffeemakers, desk space with outlets and good lighting. Family-sized rooms feature two double beds or a queen with a queen-sized, pull-out sofa. Suites have comfortable seating areas, with even the smaller rooms featuring an upholstered chair in addition to a desk chair.
Public areas are beautifully designed, set around the soaring lobby, speaking to its long history as one of the city’s grand hotels. Freshly reimagined, the lobby is open and bright, in smart black and white hues with red accents. Comfortable chairs are arranged in small conversation groups and side lounges provide quiet corners.
The hotel’s library is furnished in leather wing chairs, with desk and sofa seating, focused lighting and plenty of reading material on shelves. In-house restaurants include Off the Common in the lobby area and Strega Italiano, just off the lobby.
Boston Park Plaza lies a block from the Public Garden, where children love riding the iconic swan boats. Add an enjoyable history lesson to your kids’ Boston experience with the hotel’s Freedom Trail Special, which includes two tickets for the Walk into History Tour of Freedom Trail sites and more.
