Destinations / North America

Will you and the family be in Michigan this spooky season? If so, be sure to make tracks for one of these can’t-miss, family-friendly opportunities for fall fun found throughout the state.

Farms and Orchards in Traverse City

You’ll have multiple opportunities for agritourism in and around Traverse City. At Jacob’s Farm, take on the challenge of the 10-acre corn maze and then head out to the orchards for a little apple picking. (This year, the corn maze features an alien theme.)

At Gallagher’s Farm, visit the bakery, pick out a pumpkin and say “hi” to the farm animals, including chickens, pigs and sheep. At Rennie Orchards, the u-pick options include nearly 20 apple varieties.

The Great Pumpkin Trail

Near Grand Rapids, in Coopersville, The Great Pumpkin Trail awaits. This vintage railroad ride features live actors and music. Sip on local apple cider and doughnuts throughout the ride. Children are sent home with a free pumpkin and the ride lasts approximately 90 minutes.

The Zoo Goes Boo

Also in Grand Rapids, the John Ball Zoo is the place to be on the weekends leading up to Halloween, with its decorations, treat stations, music, magicians and more. It all goes down Oct. 13–15, 20–22 and 27–29.

Best of Both Worlds

Enjoy the best of both worlds when you fly with TAP Air Portugal thanks to the Portugal Stopover program. With the program, TAP passengers, whether traveling for business, leisure or both, can stop in Portugal for up to 10 days at no additional airfare on the way to their final destination. What does this mean for travelers wishing to explore by both land and sea? It means after flying to Portugal with TAP and experiencing the country in an entirely new way, travelers can then embark on scenic river and ocean cruises from  Portugal’s port cities, or fly with TAP to another European destination.
