North Carolina’s Crystal Coast invites family travelers to celebrate a coastal Christmas season. Add these festive events to your holiday family travel list.
One of the region’s most popular holiday events, 2024 Holiday Flotilla, takes place Dec. 7. The parade features festive sailboats, fishing boats, yachts and kayaks decked out in holiday lights and decorations. The vessels sail from Morehead City to Beaufort from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Head to Carteret County Speedway for the annual Christmas Holiday Laser Light Show. This drive-in light show presents shows Nov. 22–Dec. 1.

Emerald Isle kicks off the holiday season with its 21st annual Emerald Isle Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting on Nov. 30.
Visit Beaufort for the town’s annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 7. For art lovers, check out the annual Beaufort Holiday Art Walk on Dec. 14. Stroll downtown and view works from local artists. Also on Dec. 14, Historic Beaufort Candlelight Homes Tour offers visitors an up-close look at some of the town’s most beautiful inns, B&Bs and private homes.

Morehead City’s famous Chowder and Cheer event takes place on Dec. 7. This popular, ticketed event features soup samples at various downtown restaurants and shops. The city’s annual Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 14, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Atlantic Beach hosts its annual Smoke on the Water bonfire on Dec. 27. Enjoy live music while watching the roaring bonfire.
