Hundreds of cross-country ski trails and cozy family lodgings make New Hampshire’s White Mountains a prime destination for winter sports lovers. Value-minded families will especially appreciate new ski-and-stay packages unveiled this winter by White Mountain Nordic.
Local Nordic ski areas partnered with multiple trailside inns, resorts and B&Bs to offer package deals that include free or discounted skiing with lodging. Purity Spring Resort XC and Snowshoe Preserve, a four-season family resort, includes free downhill and cross-country skiing for lodging guests midweek and on some weekends. Two free passes per day are included with each unit when booking a ski-and-stay package. Purity Spring is especially family-centered, with an indoor pool, games and casual restaurant.
The East’s leading Nordic center, Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, partners with three Jackson hotels located right on the trail system for ski-in-ski-out convenience. Offering discounted trail passes are cozy Christmas Farm Inn and luxury Wentworth Hotel in Jackson village, while Eagle Mountain House has direct access to higher trails for more experienced skiers.
In North Conway, Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring and Snowshoe Center offers free trail passes to guests of eight different hotels, most adjacent to the extensive trail system. These include historic Stonehurst Manor, charming Buttonwood Inn and Adventure Suites. North Conway is a center for winter sports, at the foot of Cranmore Mountain and great for downhill skiing, tubing and other snow sports.
Farther North, at the base of Mt. Washington, Glen House sits opposite Great Glen Trails, a state-of-the-art center for cross-country skiing. Hotel guests have free access to skiing and snowshoeing trails, as well as discounts on lessons and tubing.
With extensive valley trails at the opposite side of Mt. Washington, Bretton Woods Nordic Center is on the grounds of Omni Bretton Woods Hotel. Stay Here, Ski Free packages include two Nordic trail passes per night of midweek stays during non-holiday periods. Guests can choose Omni Mount Washington Hotel or smaller Omni Bretton Arms Inn.
