Cayuga County boasts many apple orchards for u-pick season, with each offering a variety of apple types, from the sweetness of Honeycrips to the tart bite of Granny Smiths. In addition to offering u-pick experiences, many of the orchards host special events, cider tastings, hayrides and live music, transforming apple picking into a full fall family outing. Wander rows of trees picking apples and then enjoy homemade treats from on-site bakeries, learning more about the land, the local agriculture and the fruits.
Some self-picking orchards for your Cayuga County list include Grisamore Farm in Locke, New York; Ontario Orchard in Sterling; Owen Orchards Cider Mill and Farm Market, in Weedsport, New York; and Cayuga’s The Apple Station.
Cayuga County provides the perfect fall backdrop with loads of charm, rolling hills, vibrant foliage and serene lakes, encouraging visitors to escape life’s normal hustle and bustle. In addition, select orchards also offer picnic areas.
