To best enjoy the city (Harry Potter fans must visit The Shambles, a filming location said to also be the inspiration for Diagon Alley), Crabtree & Crabtree’s Spencer on the Lane is the perfect base for such explorations. This three-bedroom home sits feet away from York’s historic bar walls and other attractions. Visit the elusive Black Abbot at St. Mary’s Abbey or seek out the spirit haunting York Minster.

Magical Wizarding at Alnwick Castle

The filming location for the first two Harry Potter movies, families can dive into the magical world with a broomstick training set in the castle’s halls. Stay at the Haunted Bamburgh Castle

In Northumberland, families can’t miss the opportunity to sleep in Bamburgh Castle. Crabtree & Crabtree, the exclusive provider of accommodation in this castle, gives guests privileged access to the grounds after visiting hours. Sleep in the Clock Tower (a restored 13^th-century tower) or Neville Tower and hear centuries-old stories, including the haunting tales of the Lady in Pink and Dr. John Sharp.

Walk the Halloween Trail at Floors Castle, Stay at Head Gardener’s House

Crabtree & Crabtree is also the exclusive provider of accommodation within the grounds of Floors Castle. Families can stay at the Head Gardener’s House and, through Oct. 29, can enjoy a spooky Halloween Trail presented by the castle. On this trail, the Floors Castle Witch recruits visitors as apprentice potion makers. Guests travel the trail through the Haunted Gardens and Woodlands to find ingredients to the Witches Brew recipe, which are guarded by the remains of Floors Castle workers. The Head Gardener’s House is a two-bedroom, 19^th-century property sleeping up to four guests and two pets.
