With the Kansas City Chiefs now on their way back to the Super Bowl, Kansas City is already buzzing with excitement. But the NFL team’s victory only comprises one of several exciting sporting events revolving around the city. Whether you’re a soccer or pickleball fan, here’s what’s in store in Kansas City in the near future.

This March, the city’s professional women’s soccer team, KC Current, debuts a new stadium on the Missouri River in time for the season opener. The 11,500-seat stadium will be the world’s first purpose-built stadium for a women’s professional sports team.
Sporting KC Plays Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF
On April 13, Kansas City’s Major League Soccer team, Sporting KC, faces Inter Miami CF for the first time in club history at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The match will take place on the 28th anniversary of the club’s inaugural match and stadium’s first MLS match. And with Lionel Messi coming to play, the attendance is expected to break the all-time MLS attendance record in Kansas City.

This city hosts two matches of this prestigious tournament this summer, the first taking place June 25 at Children’s Mercy Park as Peru awaits the winner between Trinidad and Tobago and Canada. The second match will occur July 1 between the United States and Uruguay at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Aug. 8–11, Triple Crown Sports hosts its inaugural pickleball convention, PickleCon. At Kansas City Convention Center, the event will feature more than 100 pickleball courts and more than 60 vendors for an all-inclusive experience for players of all skill levels. The convention includes camps and clinics, tournaments, professional interactions, networking events, and panel discussions.

As the Soccer Capital of America, it’s no surprise Kansas City will serve as one of 16 host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, winning a bid against 44 other destinations. Games will be held at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
